"On 8th September 1944, Lieutenant Colonel Koszutski, commanding his regiment, captured by a daring flank attack the town of Ruysselede, Belgium MR 9680, which was defended by enemy infantry supported by a strong anti-tank screen. Considerable quantities of equipment were destroyed and over 200 prisoners taken. During one stage of the battle he led his forward tanks personally, having previously carried out a recce of the ground on foot under heavy and concentrated enemy fire.
The success of the operation was very largely due to Lieutenant Colonel Koszutski's coolness and presence of mind under difficult conditions. He set a fine example to the men of his regiment by his determination and utter contempt for danger, and was an inspiration to all under his command. Exhibiting outstanding qualities of leadership."
