- Awarded on:

Citation:
“On the morning of 22nd November 1941, at Bir-el-Reghem-el-Garbi, a small convoy loaded with 25 Pr Ammunition was sent forward from Brigade ‘B’ Echelon for urgent replenishment.
On the way this party was surrounded by enemy AFVs and the Officer’s and three landing vehicles were blown up.
Corporal Riley with great presence of mind took over command of the rest of the convoy and signalled them to follow him.
Unable to go forward owing to being in the direct line of fire of our own AFVs which were engaging the enemy column, he showed great coolness and presence of mind by breaking through and guiding his convoy back to Brigade ‘B’ Echelon.”
