Biography

Reginald Brown joined the Army - Dorset regiment in the 1920's and was then posted to India. In the late 1930's he was posted to Palestine and in 1940 posted to France as part of the British Expeditionary Force.
Brown later saw service in North West Europe in 1944-1945 and at the end of the war was sent to India to take part in the Burma Campaign.

"On 27th May P.S.M. Brown was commanding the right forward platoon of the Battalion. At 5 am that morning the enemy broke through on his right flank and for ten hours P.S.M. Brown by his example, coolness and leadership maintained his original position despite very heavy shell fire and three strong attacks by the enemy during which period his platoon suffered very heavy casualties. On the eventual orders to withdraw, P.S.M. Brown extricated his platoon under heavy fire. His conduct throughout the operations was an inspiration to all ranks."
