Kurt Auner, an ethnic Grman from Romania, served 1 year in the Romanian Army as Lieutenant in the artillery. He was also member of the Hitlerjugend, war volunteer in the Waffen-SS (artillery) in Poland and member of a Sonderkommando shortly after. Auner officially joined the Waffen-SS in 1942. He was already part of an Einsatzkommando around that time.
