He has distinguished himself by courageous conduct in combat against the enemy as a member of a resistance group which occupied itself with sabotage of roads and railways, seeing downed Allied aircrews to safety, collection and distribution of dropped weapons and so on. He was undaunted and undismayed. When one day a bakery was raided and the lives of the inhabitants were in danger, he shot 3 of the 5 attackers, forcing the 2 others to flee and enabling the inhabitants to get to safety.
