Recommendation:
For having distinguisghed himself in combat against the enemy during the last years of the occupation in a resistance group in Beltrum which, among other things, took care of Allied escaped prisoners and members of aircrews, providing them with shelter and taking care of their transport. During the fighting around Beltrum he played an active part in the battle between the advancing Canadian army and the retreating German forces in combination with Allied armor. Partly due to his personal conduct, many German troops could be made to surrender.
