"Jeune chef de peloton de découverte de la plus haute valeur. Au cours des combats près de Laon et d'Abbeville, a commandé avec courage et un coup d’œil exceptionnels un détachement de découverte qui a combattu bravement et, malgré de lourdes pertes, rapporté les renseignements les plus précieux. Blessé au genou le 20 mai, après trois jours d'opérations. Blessé à l'épaule le 31 mai par éclats d'obus, a refusé de se laisser évacuer pour rester à la tête de son escadron."
