"Throughout the campaign this Officer carried out his duties as Adjudant with exceptional cool and efficiency.
In action when Bn HQ was under heavy shell fire he always showed complete coolness which (...) around him and (...) for the efficient working of Bn HQ under difficult conditions and he never hesitated to take responsibility when more senior officers were not available.
Prior to the battle of ARNHEM he was responsible for the issuing of orders for a Combined Operation. It was entirely due to Captain Stevenson's excellent and untiring work that the Bn with its fighting (....) embarked at NIJMEGEN and landed in the early hours of the morning exactly as timed to play its part in the assault on ARNHEM, and in the final crushing (...) of the German Army in HOLLAND.
On two ocasions at EDE and RENSWOUDE during the final phase of the War in HOLLAND when the inhabitants of these towns had been overtaken by the tide of battle, Captain Stevenson personally supervised the evacuation of civilians from the battle (...) back to Refugee Centres. It was only due to his prompt action and outstanding organizing abilities that (...), women and children of those towns are alive today.
During the entire campaign through HOLLAND from BAARLE-NASSAU to NIJMEGEN it was Captain Stevenson who as Adjudant was confronted with many civilian problems. Problems of lost relatives, ruined homes and the many others that overtake civilians in the battle area. To all those he gave his utmost attention, and there are many in HOLLAND who although they will not know him by name will remember his untiring efforts for their comfort and safety."
