Kurt Mönnichmeyer was promoted to Lieutenant in April 1918. During WW I he was awarded the Iron Cross II class. After WW I he enrolled in the University of Bonn and 1922 graduated in natural sciences. He continued his education at the Technische Hochschule Dresden (technical university Dresden) in Darmstadt where he graduated as a mechanical engineer in 1927.
After graduation he went to work in the Tatra carfactory and subsequently those of Wanderer, Röhr and Mannesmann in various senior positions. In 1931 he transfered to the Deutscher Kraftfahrzeug Überwachungsverein (German Truck Inspection Facility) in Cologne. At the same time he was a representative for the Industrie und Handelskammer (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) in Bonn.
In 1938 Kurt Mönnichmeyer joined the Wehrmacht as engineer for the armoured forces. His military career started on Janury 1st 1938 as Heeresbaumeister (Army Chief of Construction) and he joined the Regierungsbaurat (Governmental Building Commission) on May 1st 1938.
On March 1st 1940 he was promoted to Hauptmann, subsequently to Major on Janury 1st 1941 and May 1st 1944 to Oberstleutnant.
After the war, Kurt Mönnichmeyer took up his original profession and served in several functions in local, regional and governmental departments as well as in the industry.
