"At about 0200 hrs on 24 Sep Capt.T.D.Rose accompanied a coy of the battalion taking part in a night crossing of the NEDER RIJN with the role of contacting the 1st Airborne Division.
The party he was with which included the Coy Comd was landed on a jetty but were pinned down by enemy fire. He continued to keep contact with his B.C. on the 18 set and directed the fire of the Div Arty in support of his coy.
Subsequently he succeeded in making contact with the Airborne Division but was shortly afterwards wounded in the arm.
During the morning and despite his wound and with the assistance of Airborne OPs he maintained communication with his BC passing vital information and successfully engaged many target until forced to destroy his wireless sets as a result of an attack by a SP gun and tanks on the house being used as an OP.
He was again wounded and had to be left with the other casualties in the church.
Throughout the whole of the operation Capt.Rose showed outstanding gallantry and devotion to duty and notwithstanding his wound and with complete disregard for his own safety he continued at his post and materially assisted in the successful evacuation of the Airborne Division"
