At the end of November 1944 elements of the 1st French Army implemented an offensive out of the area NE of Belfort and SW of Mülhausen, with the aim of taking the Burgundian Gate. In the fighting that followed Leutnant Morr distinguished himself while leading his Kompanie in the defense. With his men he managed to seal off a breakthrough near Illzach, north of Mülhausen.
