Lived in Haarlem. Married to German Anna Plagmann (two children). Pastry chef/co-owner of Prins biscuit and cookie factory in Haarlem. No church. Member of the resistance under the pseudonym Koenders and member of the Dutch Communist Party (CPN), banned by the Germans. Among other things, he was involved in the distribution of illegal literature from September 1940 and supported this with financial contributions. At a later date, Hissink was involved in the production and distribution of the illegal magazine De Vonl. He also played a role in obtaining weapons, explosives and chemical preparations for the arson of vital (German) warehouses. As a result of betrayal, Hissingl was arrested in Enschede on 6 April 1943 and sentenced to death on 10 March 1944. A request for pardon was denied. His tombstone bears the inscription: ‘In the fight for justice, no sacrifice is ever in vain.’
