Biography

Gerardus (Gerrit) van Hooijdonk was a member of the LO -KP olv Cor van der Hooft with headquarters in Breda during the war (see Buitkamp). As a car mechanic, he was a member of the KP with sabotage and robbery actions, among other things. After the liberation of Breda and the arrival of Prince Bernard, he became a member of the Internal Armed Forces and was added to the Prince's staff for the maintenance of equipment at the KMA, Breda and Anneville in Ulvenhout. From May 1945, he followed Prince Bernard to the Loo Palace, where he worked in the stables' workshop. At the end of 1948, he returned to his birthplace of Ulvenhout to set up a garage there.
