Recommendation
Dated 29th June 1945:
"Major ZAMOYSKI acted as Second-in-Command to the Head of the Polish Military Mission to HQ 21 Army Group, since March 1945.
An officer of wide international experience, he is intensely keen, hard-working and possessed great drive. He has done most valuable work between this HQ and the 1st Polish Armoured Division in addition to able handling of the many varied problems with which his countrymen are faced today."

Dated 11th January 1946:
"Dear Knox,
"With reference to Wemyss' letter 68/Gen. /B043(Ms.SL0 of 30th November I write to let you know that in the special circumstances no objection will be raised here to the award of an Honorary M.B.E. to Major Stephan Zamoyski, not with standing the fact that the recommendation was not approved by the Poles until after withdrawal of recognition from the émigré Polish Government.
It is understood of course that no publicity will be given to the award".
