"For meritorious achievement in connection with military operations against the enemy from 15 April to 9 May 1945. During this period Lieutenant Colonel Eason was responsible for establishing camps to house over 40.000 liberated Allied Prisoners of War and for their discipline, administration, medical attention and rationing. In addition, Lieutenant Colonel Eason brilliantly supervised the repatriation of 60.000 French, Belgian and Dutch Prisoners of War to their homeland. The initiative, tact, driving energy and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Colonel Eason in the performance of this difficult and vital mission were outstanding and reflect great credit on himself and the armed forces."
