Awarded the Knight’s Cross for his actions during the four-day battle of Schlossberg (which commenced on the 13.01.1945). In the midst of the bitter house-to-house fighting a favourable frontline situation suddenly presented itself to Jacobeit. On his own initiative he launched a counterthrust with a handful of men and was able to spoil an enemy infantry assault. He would be recognized appropriately for this action.
