Samuel Marsland Ginn came from a wealthy family of lawyers and landowners. He was born on October 21st, 1912 as the son to Dennis Barton Ginn (died 1938) and Dorothy Ruth Ginn-Brooke (died 1971). He attended Brighton College. Before the war (from 1938) he worked at the (family) law firm Ginn & Co Applicors in Cambridge. Samuel was married to Phyllis Estill Ginn- Mason (died 1998) on July 17th, 1937 in Trumpington.
He was fatally his by shrapnel in the head while he was at the 7th Seaforth Highlanders headquarters after Blerick's rescue operation. For some time his remains were buried in a fieldgrave on the corner of the Peelstraat and the Americaanseweg in Kronenberg. On August 12th, 1948 he was reburied in Venray.
