Citation:
"After undergoing special training, 2/Lt. HOOGEWERFF was parachuted into enemy-occupied HOLLAND on 22 September 1944 as one of a party of four charged with the mission of contacting Resistance elements and organising their communications, equipment and training.
His task mainly comprised arms instruction and the organisation of airborne supplies. Those with whom he worked speak highly of him and of the work he performed in the particularly dangerous area of Rotterdam.
He carried out his duties in a completely satisfactory manner until 3 February 1945, when he was arrested my the enemy. He was executed by shooting on 8 March 1945.
I recommend that 2/Lieut. HOOGEWERFF be awarded a posthumous Certificate of Commendation."
