"For meritorious achievement in connection with military operations in the Mediterranean Theater from 23 June 1943 to 20 August 1945. As Chief of Provisions of Petroleum Section, Allied Force Headquarters, Major King was responsible for the successful provisioning and allocation of petroleum products to all French military and Civilian services, which required unusual analytical ability in screening and allocating petroleum products in quantities to meet all requirements. By outstanding initiative and foresight, Major King developed a sound and efficient program of importation, storage and distribution of petroleum products to all French military and civilian services located in the territory from Casablanca to Bizerta. Through constant contact with French governmental authorities, Major King maintained cordial relations which helped to make possible his outstanding performance materially to the ability of the French military service and civilian organizations with their important mission in the support of the Allied War effort. Entered service from Bristol, Gloucestershire, England."
