"Brigadier William S. Cole, British Army, serving as Deputy Quartermaster General, Principal Administrative Officer's Department, South East Asia Command from November 1943 to August 1945, was responsible for the maintenance of supplies for the Inter-Allied, Inter-Service forces of the Command and with allocating priorities for critical supplies among the Allied Forces. He materially assisted the United States Forces in obtaining from the Government of India, and Central Headquarters China, materials from local production, accomodation facilities, and labor with resulted in reduced requirements for the import of such resources from the United States. Through his ability and professional knowledge Brigadier Cole contributed greatly towards the successful conduct of operation by the Allied Forces in South East Asia."
