"Colonel V.E.H. Sanceau, O.B.E, British Army, as Chief of Survey Section, 15th Army Group, from May 1944 to May 1945 in Italy was charged with coordinating and supervising all mapping and map reproduction activities for the group and its components, the United States Fifth and British Eight Armies. With keen foresight, and employing sound technical ability be integrated the widely dispersed British and American topographic units into a smoothly working and effective team. The untiring efforts and thorough knowledge of his duties by Colonel Sanceau were in large measure responsible for the integrated Survey Section operated."
