"Captain [then Second Lieutenant] Frank W. Ferguson (MCSN: O-6964), United States Marine Corps. For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action as Platoon Leader, Company O, Fourth Tactical Battalion, Fourth Marines, at Corregidor, Philippine Islands, on 5 - 6 January, 1942. Though wounded, he continued to lead his platoon in an attack against Japanese forces and when his company commander was seriously wounded, he assumed command of the company and directed its subsequent actions despite further wounds. His conduct reflects great credit upon himself and the United States Marine Corps."
