Memorial Han Jordaan

Han Jordaan (1919) died in 1945 in the Austrian concentration camp Mauthausen. He was destined to take a leading position in the textile factory. In July 1940 he graduated in England as a textile engineer. In the meantime, the Germans had invaded our country, so that returning to the Netherlands was not advisable. He then volunteered with the Royal Dutch Naval Air Service and later joined the British Intelligence Service. In March 1942 Han was deployed in the Netherlands for his first action, as a secret agent of the Special Operations Executive. At the beginning of May 1942, he was betrayed into the hands of the Germans, making him a victim of the so-called Englandspiel. He was imprisoned in the Oranjehotel in Scheveningen. He then ended up in Mauthausen via camp Sachsenhausen near Oranienburg. He died there on April 21, 1945.
