The text on the plaque is:
From 17-22 September 1944 the Rhine Hotel owned by the Gerritsen family was used as temporary hospital. Family doctor J.C. Drost and later also a German doctor carried out operations on the billiard table in the bar.
Civilian casualties and German service men were cared for until the Rhine Bridge was in German hands again.
There are also two plaques to commemorate former mayor of Arnhem mr De Monchy.
