Belgian War Graves Moperingen

The churchyard of Mopertingen contains Belgian burials of the First World War. These are the graves of JANS Pierre, Kaaskerke 12 May 1915; NIJSSEN Jean, Pervijze 8 October 1915; LOYEN Cornelis, West-Vleteren 17 April 1918.
There is also the grave of SIMONS Louis, fallen at Torhout on 27 May 1940.

The churchyard also contains the graves of civilian victims of the Second War. Most of the victims were killed during the German invasion on May 1940.

The churchyard of Mopertingen contains the grave of a resistance fighter of the Second World War. That of MOORS Michel, who was murdered by Belgian collaborators on 16 August 1944.

On the corner of the Maastrichterstraat and the Windmolenstraat at Mopertingen is a monument in memory of Michel and Fernand Moors, father and son. They were both in the Resistance during the Second World War. Fernand Moors perished in the concentration camp of Dora-Nordhausen.
