Memorial Resistance Fighter Hilaire Gemoets

Hilaire Gemoets, born January 14, 1924, in Assent, was the former Corps Commander of the Belgian Partisans, and also a member of group G.

He was captured and executed by the Germans on September 3, 1944, here in Webbekom. On this place is a memorial stone where he is commemorated every year by many veteran departments, his family and sympathizers.
