Memorial Town Hall Mechernich
On November 9, 2021, a new monument was unveiled in front of the town hall in Mechernich at 6 pm. Because exactly 83 years ago, the Reichsprogromnacht took place here in Mechernich on this day. This stele is intended to inspire remembrance, admonition and foresight.
In 1934, 113 Jewish citizens lived in Mechernich. At the beginning of 1942 there were only 17 and by the end of the year all Jewish citizens were kidnapped and murdered in the forest of Blagowshchina.
