Santa Anita Assembly Center / Camp Santa Anita

The Santa Anita Assembly Center was an internment camp for Americans with a Japanese background during World War II. The camp was operational between March 27 and October 27, 1942 and affected 18,719 civilians. The camp was subsequently taken over by the U.S. Army Ordnance Corps taken over. Eventually the complex was used as a prisoner of war camp for thousands of soldiers from Rommel's Afrika Korps.
