Remains Ghetto Wall Warsaw Stawki Street

These are remnants of the wall that closed off the Warsaw ghetto from the outside world. The ghetto was established in 1940 and cleared in spring 1943. In total, more than 400,000 Jews were imprisoned here, most of whom were killed by the Nazis at Treblinka extermination camp.

This fragment of the wall was adjacent to Umschlagplatz, the location where Jews were gathered before being deported. The wall was renovated in 2014.
