During the Second World War, British soldier Charles Reeves fought at the Nijmegen railway and road bridge over the Waal, among other things. After the war, Charles Reeves moved from England to Holten and started a family there. He was involved as a volunteer at the Canadian cemetery in Holten and also at the Memory Museum. He passed away in 2015 at the age of 90. Named after Charles Reeves, this monument is part of the Nijmegen bridge and honors all soldiers who gave their lives to make the world a better place.
