Memorial Russenlager Mauthausen

This memorial is located on the site of the former Russenlager (Russians Camp) in Mauthausen concentration camp. Soviet prisoners of war were held here during World War II. Many died here due to poor conditions and exhaustion. This section was built in October 1941 and had ten barracks. Later it was used as a camp for sick prisoners
