Memorial Former Synagogue Karlsruhe

During the Reichspogromnacht (Kristallnacht) of 9 November 1938, the synagogue of Karlsruhe's Liberal Jewish community was set on fire by members of the SA and SS. The fire was quickly extinguished but the next day the National Socialists ordered that the Jewish Community should have the synagogue demolished at its own expense.

Today, a memorial to this horrific event stands where the synagogue once stood.
