Just outside Lincoln on a hill is the International Bomber Command Centre since 2018. This location includes a visitor centre, an archive and a memorial.
The memorial stands at the back of the visitor centre, with a nice view of Lincoln Cathedral, consists of 'The Spire' this is 32 metres high, the span of a Lancaster wing, making it the tallest war memorial in the UK. Around this spire are walls bearing the names of nearly 58,000 men and women Around this spire are walls bearing the names of nearly 58,000 men and women who gave their lives in the service of Bomber Command during World War II. The tower and walls are made of Corten steel.
In front of the visitor centre is a monument commemorating Operation Manna , the food drops in the occupied western Netherlands that took place from 29 April to 7 May 1945.
