Novodevitsji Cemetery

The Novodevitsji-cemetery is locates at the monastery in Moscow with the same name and is known as one of the most important cemeteries of Russia. During the Sovjet-era, only the cemetery at the Kremlin had a larger status.

A large number of important persons, generals and Heroes of the Soviet Union are buried here. Many of them served during the First and/or Second World War.

This cemetery contains, among other things, the funerary monument for the "Heroes of the defense of Moscow in the year 1941".
Here are 3 soldiers who had an important role in the defense against the advancing German troops are commemorated:
Lev Dovator, Viktor Talalikhin and Ivan Panfilov.

They have been awarded the honorary title "Hero of the Soviet Union".
