This cemetery was established in 1945 burial site for a large number of Soviet soldiers and officers who fell at the fighting for Kiev in 1941 and 1943, or died due to their wounds. They are buried in 250 mass graves and some in individual graves. After the war, the cemetery was changed into a regular military cemetery and became the last resting place of a number of famous and highly decorated Soviet veterans, including:
Tank commander, Colonel and Twice Hero of the Soviet Union J.N. Boyko
Lieutenant General Air Force and Twice Hero of the Soviet Union V.G. Ryazanov.
There are also 9 Czechoslovak soldiers buried here in a mass grave. They fell during the fightings for Kiev in 1943.
