Memorial Israelite Community Aschaffenburg

The synagogue of the Israelite Community stood on Wolfsthalplatz which was burned down by the Nazis on November 9, 1938.
In 1946, shortly after the end of the war, the city of Aschaffenburg created a plane tree forest on the former site of the synagogue as a "memorial park".
A memorial was also erected there.

The memorial stone contains a quote from Hölderlin:
"Oh, you can kill,
but you can't
bring to life
when love doesn't work"
