Allied Soldiers Memorial

The text on this memorial is:

Due to a tragic accident on 20 October 1944,
37 British and Canadian soldiers lost their
lives on these fields. They died for our freedom.

The center plaque shows the names of the killed soldiers of the 284ste Armored Assault Squadron of the Royal Engineers and the 7e Infantry Brigade Company of the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps.

Four killed soldiers were added in 1999 after searching in archives. These men died of their wounds after the accident.

The killed soldiers are buried on the Canadian War Cemetery in Adegem (Belgium). Missing soldiers are commemorated on the memorial in Groesbeek.
