Text on the monument:

SEPTEMBER 1944

On Tuesday morning September 19th 1944 the last attempt of the 2nd Battalion South Staffordshires and the 11th Parachute Battalion to break through to the Rhinebridge failed. After heavy casualties, the remains of the British forces pulled back permanently to Oosterbeek.


The marker is located in the garden of the Arnhem Museum.
