War Memorial Achterveld

This Memorial commemorates the residents of Achterveld to the victims who fell in the Second World War.

This Memorial also commemorates the Canadian soldiers who liberated Achterveld.

Text on the Memorial:

CANADIAN SOLDIERS FROM THE
PRINCESS PATRICIA LIGHT INFANTRY PREVENTED THE
DESTRUCTION OF THE PARISH CHURCH OF ACHTERVELD
(used as an observation post)
ON 18 APRIL 1945.

WE THANK THESE SOLDIERS WHO
SAVED THE HEART OF OUR VILLAGE.
