This memorial marks the location on the Jewish Cemetery where after the Reichkristallnacht, on 10 November 1940, seven Tora-rolls and other religious artefacts were buried, after saving those out of the destroyed synagogues of Cologne. Because there was nobody anymore after the Second World War who could tell the location, the artefacts were not rediscovered until 1970.
