Hamburgische Dankmedaille (Sturmflut 1962)

This memorial medal was to be awarded to external helpers who came to the city of Hamburg to assist in the rescue and help missions during and after the storm surge of 1962.

The bronze medal measures 32 mm and shows a symbolic picture of a rescue helper in a boat, pulling someone out of the water. The back shows the shield of the city state of Hamburg with the text "DAS DANKBARE HAMBURG / SEINEN FREUNDEN IN DER / NOT + XVII. FEBRUAR 1962". The ribbon is white with two red bands and two narrow red edges.

The awarding was done by the Senate of Hamburg by awarding of the medal and an award document.
