WW2Awards.com and TracesOfWar.com merged!

In 2002 STIWOT was set up to manage the website go2war2.nl. Soon, more and more questions were being asked about visiting the war museums in the Benelux. Therefore it was decided to launch a new website with these museums. Oorlogsmusea.nl was born. In 2012 the website had grown to 30,000 articles about museums, monuments, cemeteries and other sights. Yet the name did not cover the content anymore and was replaced by TracesOfWar.com. Five years later, in 2017, the complete website has been updated to better display the 95,000 articles.

It turned out to be more difficult than we thought, but with a lot of outside help we identified 10 turrets in 2009. Many of them were moved these past years. One turret we could not find: turret 4, the twin brother of turret 3, which stood at the N834 in the direction of Bertogne, close to the Bastogne Barracks.

A visit to Auschwitz

By car it's about 35 minutes drive to Oświęcim (the town where Auschwitz is located). Moreover, the trip can be combined with other places of interest like the city of Krakow. In Krakow are several WW2 places of interest, for example the former factory of Oskar Schindler which has been converted into a modern museum of the Second World War.
