On March 3, 1945, the Royal Regiment was involved in the Allied push through the Hochwald Gap in Germany. The companies encountered mortar and shell fire to be heavy and comparable to the days of Normandy landings.
It was on that day that Harry was wounded in the right thigh by a shell fragment. At age 21, Private Harry Allen died of his wounds that he received in action.
