In February 1945 the Royal Artillery played a crucial role in the start of Operation Veritable.
The artillery support had been planned as a battle-winning factor. Trueman is also part of this role with the 6th Field division as part of the 2nd Canadian Division (under Britisch XXX Corps).
The day after, on the 9th of February Trueman is the deadly victim of an unfortunate incident with friendly fire in Molenhoek the Netherlands. Two anti-aircraft shells are being fired at a low flying plane, but the two shells came in the dugout entrance. Killing Trueman and leaving 3 others wounded.
