Biography

Private
Canadian Forestry Corps
28 Coy.

On a cold Sunday, December 17, a divine service was held for the Company. The next day, the body of Roy Lawrence Betts was found in the Albert Canal in Hasselt.
His body was taken to the 39th General Hospital in Hasselt. He probably got lost and fell into the cold water and drowned. Two shipmasters heard calls for help, searched the water and took his body out of the water around 8:40 PM. At this point 5 soldiers had already fallen into the water and drowned.
