What is known is that Lloyd received a bullet wound to his neck on 16 February 1945 from either regular enemy fire or perhaps a sniper shot. He was evacuated for treatment to 6 Canadian General Hospital at St. Michielsgestel, Netherlands.
Lloyd died from his wounds three days later, 19 February 1945, age 22.
