David was born on December 23 1920 in Iroquois, Ontario, the son of James Carleton Brouse, and Mary Brouse nee Brouse of Iroquois. He had two brothers.
He was a student and member of the Church of England and his sports were rugby, football and hockey and his hobby was hunting.
He enlisted on January 27 1941 in Ottawa and he went thereafter on April 4 1943 overseas to the UK.
David was killed in action on Wednesday September 20 1944 age 23 due to a crash a crash near the Van de Molenallee at Doorwerth during the operation Market Garden. He was temporarily buried then near the crash location before being reburied on October 30 1945 in Oosterbeek. His other fallen RCAF crew members were F/O Roderick J. Matheson age 26 in grave 29-C-7 and W/O Class I Thomas W. Allen age 21 in grave 29-C-9. The other fallen RAF Volunteer Reserve crew members were Sgt Stanley J. Cooke age 27 (passenger) in grave 29-C-2 and Sgt Edward F. Keen age 21 in grave 29-C-5-6. The other fallen RASC (British) crew members were Drv. Joseph F. Leech age 22 in grave 29-C-1 and L/Cpl Frederick Rexstrew age 30 in grave 29-C-8. The other fallen RAAF crew members were P/O Reginald A. Davis age 27 in grave 29-C-3-4 and P/O Keith Willet age 29 in grave 29-C-3-4.

He served with the 190 (R.A.F.) Sqdn Royal Canadian Air Force.
