The KING has been graciously pleased to approve the following awards in recognition of gallant and distinguished services in the field: The Military Cross.
On the afternoon of 23 September 1944, the Westminster Regiment, with A Squadron of tanks under command, was ordered to advance and seize the crossroads east of San Vito. During this move the battalion ran into some extensive mine bolts of unknown size and shape, which held up the tanks and anti-tank guns. The enemy then began shelling very heavily with selfpropelled guns and motars, knocking out several tanks. Lieutenant Cambridge commanding the Anti-tank gun platoon, immediately undertook to clear a path through the minefield in his carrier.
