Biography

Son of Fred and Polly Wakula, of Sifton, Manitoba. Served in the rank of private with the Westminster Regiment (Motor). Killed at the age of 19 on 17 April 1945 during fierce fighting in the liberation of Putten near Voorthuizerstraat.

He is buried at the Canadian Cemetery in Groesbeek and was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, the Italy Star, the France & Germany Star, the War Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp.

His name appears on the monument to Canadian servicemen in Putten. His headstone bears the inscription "Of Sifton, Manitoba, Canada"
