    Biography

    Friedrich Adrario reached the rank of Hauptmann. After the Second World War he served with the Austrian Bundesheer, reaching the rank of Generalmajor. For his services for Austria he received the Goldenen Ehrenzeichens der Republik, the Goldenen Ehrenzeichens des Landes Niederösterreich and the Tiroler-Adler-Orden.

    Adrario was the commander of the Panzerjäger-Abteilung 200 (of the 21. Panzer-Division) during its battles in Normandy. Equipped with the hard-hitting 88mm Pak 43, his battalion was able to wreak carnage during the battle and destroy a total of 116 allied tanks in the months of July and August. For this outstanding combat record, achieved under his command, Adrario was eventually awarded the Knight’s Cross near the end of that year.
